E.L. Haynes Public Charter School has increased their Internet bandwidth by six times the previous amount—without increasing their cost. By choosing DC-CAN services, E.L. Haynes is able to make better use of online educational programs for students now and in the future without negatively impacting its telecommunications budget.

“At E.L. Haynes, our students use technology in the classroom through targeted online programs to help support their education experience,” said Jennifer C. Niles, Founder and Head of School.

“This integrated use of technology is not possible without Internet access,” said Niles. “DC-CAN is a huge asset to making this possible.”

E.L. Haynes continues to expand use of technology in classrooms, including additional use of laptops in Pre-K through 8 classrooms and a 1:1 laptop program in the high school.

E.L. Haynes Public Charter School currently has 800 students from pre-school through 9th grade and will grow to 1,100 students from pre-school through 12th grade. Founded in 2004, E.L. Haynes has a program is based on nationally recognized best practices for advancing student achievement. Its mission is that every student of every race, socioeconomic status, and home language will reach high levels of academic achievement and be prepared to succeed at the college of his or her choice.

Students from 3rd through 8th grade attend the school's Georgia Avenue Campus, located at 3600 Georgia Avenue, NW in Ward 1. Students from pre-K through 2nd grade, along with 9th graders in a newly expanding high school, attend the school's Kansas Avenue Campus, located at 4501 Kansas Avenue, NW in Ward 4.

In addition to Internet services for the school, DC-CAN will provide external free Wi-Fi Internet coverage into the nearby Georgia Avenue neighborhood.
